Cultural Information:

Can be found in wet, lowland areas as well as on dry ridge tops.  Container grown trees are preferred as they tend to transplant with greater success.  In the nursery it grows quickly to 5-6′ (in 2 yrs).  Diseases and pests are few.

White Oak, Black Oak, Northern Red Oak, Tuliptree, Pin Oak and Sweetgum.

Field Observations: 

A very adaptable tree with a brilliant red color in the fall.  A fine tree for restoration and reclamation purposes.
