Description
Cultural Information:
Found more commonly at higher elevations than other members of this genus. It is most frequently found in acid soils and on dry to moist soils. Often forms thickets at the edge of woodlands and swamps and in cool ravines. The sweet fruit is edible and was valued by Native Americans.
