Red Maple, Persimmon, Blackgum, Boxelder, Kentucky Coffee Tree, Black Walnut, Oaks and Hickories.
Field Observations:
This tree produces a reddish brown pot that drops throughout winter. In central Ohio we see them commonly along the Scioto River and along creeks that flow into the river. The thorns persist during winter and can be difficult on vehicle tires. Fragrant, greenish white flowers open in mid May.
