Description
Cultural Information:
Named for the multiple red stems this shrub produces red osier is medium sized shrub for a moist, sunny location. Growth is fast and suckering produces a large clump in a short amount of time.
Associated Species:
Elderberry, Nannyberry, Silky Dogwoods, Gray Dogwoods, Pin Oak, Bur Oak and Tuliptree from personal observation.
Field Observations:
Another fine clump-forming dogwood shrub very much like silky or gray dogwood. Stems can be brilliant red and creamy white seeds provide food for birds. More sun is better.
