Description
Cultural Information:
Easily transplanted shrub that can be grown in dryer as well as more moist areas. If the location was very wet we would recommend using Swamp Rose. It is a vigorous grower and will clump up quickly. Canes are profusely thorned and should be handled with leather gloves. We use welding gloves to handle them.
Associated Species: [6]
As an upland (UPL) plant there are many choices for associated species. Oaks, Hickories and Maples will do well with them just to name a few.
Field Observations:
I have never seen this species growing in the wild but have seen it in cultivation. It is very similar to Swamp Rose and blooms in the same manner but a little earlier in the year (late May). Some plants tend to have paler pink flowers while others are a rosier pink.
Pasture Rose, Wild Rose is Native to the following States & Ohio counties
