Cultural Information:

Grows to approximately 5′ and suckers profusely.  It can do well in a variety of conditions including dry and wetter locations.  A very adaptable shrub with wonderful multicolored fall leaves and a black fruit.  Small white flowers appear in Spring which are attractive along with the deep green, shiny leaves.

Field Observations:

I have not seen this species in the wild but in the nursery is grows quickly and blooms on second year wood.  The fall color is what really set this species apart in my opinion.  Reds, yellow and purple provide a patchwork of color in the fall.
